With the monster run that LeBron James is currently on, NBA fans have once again taken a historical eye to his legacy and begun to compare his overall value as a player to some of his greatest contemporaries. Michael Jordan even weighed in on the newly sparked Kobe vs LeBron debate, favoring Kobe and citing his five championships to LeBron’s one. Do you agree with MJ’s assement? The footwear of these two fellows has been pretty well documented to date, with and both lacing up in appropriately USA colored version of their latest Nike Basketball sig’s for the exhibition matches leading up to the 2012 Olympics. Michael Jordan Addresses Kobe Bryants Dream Team Claims

The ‘Dream Team’ squad that represented the USA in men’s basketball at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona is considered by many to be the greatest sports team ever assembled, but does the current crop of b-ball Olympians have a leg up on them? Team member seems to think so, recently claiming in an interview that the 2012 USA Olympic basketball team would beat the 1992 in a head to head game. Ever the competitor Michael Jordan heartily disagreed, saying he “absolutely laughed” at Kobe’s claims and that “For him to compare those two teams is not one of the smarter things he ever could have done.” It’s a question that we can never really answer, but for what it’s worth ESPN analysts ran some 10,000 computer simulations of the matchup, giving the 1992 team the W 53.1 percent of the time by a mere one point margin on average. is one of the greatest players to ever play the game and whether its fair or not, he has drawn comparisons to Michael Jordan throughout his career. Bryant has often been criticized by fans of Jordan for trying to be like and that he’ll never be what MJ was, but the man himself recently spoke on those comparisons and you may find his response surprising. In an interview with famed sports writer Roland Lazenby, he said that “Kobe is the only one to do the work, to deserve comparison.” Bryant has worked hard to improve his game as he’s increased in age and with five championships to his name, he may be the only one who ever comes close to Jordan.
