The Daily Jordan: Air Jordan 11 Retro “Columbia” – 2001

April 21st, 2015 By

air-jordan-11-columbia-2001-01

This isn’t one of those shoe cakes, it’s today’s Daily Jordan – Air Jordan XI “Columbia” from 2001. It’s the shoe Michael Jordan debuted at the 1996 NBA All-Star Game, scoring 20 points en route to MVP honors, and recently returned as a “Legend Blue” rendition. The XI “Columbia” is counted as one of the original three Mid colorways to log time on the shelves in ’96, a true white-based colorway that played the white Cordura upper off of white patent leather with a trace of light blue for accenting. An interesting side effect of the shoe’s aging process, particularly that of the 2001 retro seen here, is the propensity of the white patent to slowly but surely turn a buttercream frosting hue. It’s a horror to purists but a happy imperfection to those who like their sneakers quirky. If you’re in the latter group, you can pick up similar pairs from the likes of ajv12442010 on eBay right now. Enjoy this look and deadstock comparison below.

Air Jordan 11LAB4 Black On Feet

April 17th, 2015 By

On-feet photos of sneakers are always of help, especially with kicks on the louder side of things like the Air Jordan 11LAB4. You just never know from stock photos how they’ll play actually in use. Back in 1995, when this shoe’s mentor Air Jordan XI was born, a lot of folks flipped when they saw the patent leather on Michael Jordan‘s feet. But when they headed into their local Champs Sports, a few opinions changed. Credit cards and cash were placed back into pockets. Why? Patent leather goes to 11, to reference Nigel Tufnel. It’s full blast flashy all the time and some people can’t or don’t want to deal. However, the patent is right in the wheelhouses of others, the more the merrier. And the 11LAB4 is in that category, and that’s where most people are given the overwhelming popularity of the XI. Whichever side you fall on the patent leather sneaker spectrum, this one is coming at you on April 25th for $225. Find some more looks below and we’ll have more updates on the way.

Air Jordan 11LAB4 Black & Red But Not Bred

April 7th, 2015 By

air-jordan-11lab-4-00

You’re familiar with the “Bred” nickname for black and red Air Jordans but does it apply if you wear one black shoe and one red shoe? Not a question worth much pondering but we at least can glean some idea of how that look would work from this latest round of 11LAB4 photos. Jordan Brand’s patent leather spin on the 4 is coming at us in those all-red and all-black colorways this spring and summer, giving Jordan sneaker fans yet two more options for a shoe that has released in “Columbia,” “Oreo,” “Teal,” and “Laser” options in just the first three months of 2015 alone. The black 11LAB4 is slated for an April 25th retail release, and you can expect a summer release for the red 11LAB4.
