A Detailed Look at the Public School x Air Jordan 1

A Detailed Look at the Public School x Air Jordan 1

The Air Jordan 1 has been branching out for the past year or so. It all started when the brand reintroduced the classic ‘Nike Air’ branding atop the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG and from there, despite a bevy of new colorways, the old school traditionalism of the model caught people’s attentions with a number of retro releases. Then there was the Nike SB three part series (of which we’re still waiting on a look at the third creation). Now it looks like Dao Yi-Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School will get a crack at the legendary sneaker with the Air Jordan 1 “PSNY”. With a premium black leather on the upper, the cement speckling on the midsole is a nice addition to contrast with an icy outsole. The bottom even sees a red insert reminiscent of those TEDx Portland one-offs. While this set of detailed images is strictly of the Family and Friends release, there’s rumored to be a slightly different take on this pair set to release at Jordan Brand’s Flight 23 Flagship. Hit the click for more and let us know if you’re feeling this pair in the comments.

Air Jordan 1: “Brooklyn Zoo” by PMK Customs

Air Jordan 1: Brooklyn Zoo by PMK Customs

The customization of sneakers is at an all time high, but looking back at 2012, it’s hard to argue that this Air Jordan 1 “Brooklyn Zoo” custom by PMK Customs helped in the growth of the community. This particular Air Jordan 1 could’ve started all of those exotic skin retro trends based on the ridiculous amount of exotic leather that went into this shoe. There was the alligator skin, crocodile, elephant, stingray, ostrich, and python among others (a total of 8 premium leathers were used in the creation of this custom). Adding to the legacy of this 10 shoe run was the fact that Jay-Z wore a pair after grabbing them at LeBron’s UNKNWN sneaker shop down in Miami. With black and grey alternating on the upper, red hits the ankle support and Swoosh branding. What do you think? Hit the click for more images and pick up the rare find via jonallon80 on eBay.

Did you plan on grabbing a pair before the announcement? Hit the click for more details and there’s always a chance to grab this Air Jordan 1 “Gym Red” on eBay.

Dank Customs Takes on the Lance Mountain x Nike SB Air Jordan 1

Dank Customs Takes on the Lance Mountain x Nike SB Air Jordan 1

The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 collaboration currently rests at two pairs having released at retail, but perhaps the most exciting part of the Lance Mountain edition had to be the fact that it allowed the purchaser to be able to customize (in some regards) the look of their mismatched Air Jordan 1s. With an extra layer of paint, fans were free to chip off the black or white coat at will, and Dank Customs recently took it upon himself to create a custom paint job with the images of both Michael Jordan and a young Lance Mountain on the side panels while the Swoosh and heel were given a more than interesting print. Hit the click for more images and let us know what you think of Dank Customs’ latest creation in the comments section.

Air Jordan 1: Do the Right Thing Custom for Spike Lee

This year will be the 25th anniversary of Spike Lee’s influential film Do the Right Thing. And while that film didn’t boast his recurring Mars Blackmon character, it did have the infamous scene where a character gets their Air Jordan 4s stepped on (if only the retros were still $110 after tax). Today we get a look at the Air Jordan 1 “Lance Mountain” collaboration with Nike SB customized for the director, as it references Radio Raheem with the gold plated ‘Love’ and ‘Hate’ brass knuckles on the back heels with the title of Public Enemy’s hit ‘Fight the Power’ written on the ankle. While we only have this teaser image, stay tuned for more and let us know if you’d grab a pair of this 25th anniversary-referencing Do the Right Thing Air Jordan 1 in the comments.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG: Gym Red Arriving at Retailers

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG has already donned a “Gym Red” look for a while now, and we’re just waiting on the monochromatic pair to release next Saturday, June 28th, to get our hands on a pair. Featuring a premium leather upper in red, the sneaker gets a classic off-white in sail on both the branding and midsole to give it a classic look.
