Tinker Hatfield presented Michael Jordan with two choices for the “Olympic” Air Jordan 7 – a white-based colorway and a navy blue look.

MJ chose the white version.

“My recollection is that MJ thought the contrasted one was really cool,” Hatfield said via Nike press. “Ultimately, I left it up to him.”

That decision placed the alternate quietly in Nike archives these past 24 years, setting the stage for Jordan Brand to bring it to life just in time for the 2016 Olympics.
