The wait is finally over as “The Captain”, Derek Jeter became Mr. 3,000 in Jeter-like fashion. The Yankee shortstop became only the 28th person in Major League Baseball history to become a member of the 3,000 hit club and the first player in pinstripes to do so in the franchise’s history. Jeter’s 3,000th hit came in the third inning on a solo home run off of Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price. The home run was only the second time in history that a player has gotten his 3,000th hit that way with Wade Boggs being the first.
