It’s a footnote now, but the Jordan Fly Wade series looked to be the start of something special back in spring 2011. Dwyane Wade was in his first season with LeBron James and Chris Bosh down in Miami, and he was essentially the face of Jordan Brand. Slight hitch – the shoe didn’t sell much, nor did the Fly Wade 2. A Fly Wade 3 sample was produced but obviously nothing came of the project. In October 2012, Wade announced he’d signed with Chinese sportswear maker Li-Ning, sending a bit of a shockwave through the sneaker world. After all, who leaves Michael Jordan? The Fly Wade series is long gone, with chances of retro releases seemingly very slim, but the shoes live on through venues like eBay.
