Air Jordan XX “Varsity Red” was the first colorway to leak to sneaker forums and the first to hit retail in February 2005. The shoe and the colorway were ridiculed by many sneaker fans, but many came around by release day. Like Tinker Hatfield‘s many other creations, the XX pushed the envelope – the floating ankle strap, iridescent pearl upper, Independent Podular Suspension (I.P.S.) underfoot, and the Mark Smith-penned mosaic detailing Michael Jordan‘s life and career across the midfoot. Jordan Brand hasn’t yet retroed the “Varsity Red” colorway, but there are quality pairs available via eBay now.
