It’s always been obvious that the Air Jordan 11 Low IE is a different animal from the patent leather versions that Michael Jordan made instantly iconic back in 1995. But the story behind its creation and purpose has been one of the grand unanswered Jordan design questions the last 20 years, until Nike published Tinker Hatfield’s remarks on the vented shoe last Friday. The timing of the design reveal feels right, with the IE in the midst of a mini renaissance this year – Cobalt on August 1, Militia Green on September 19, and now Referee about to hit stores on September 26. Check some of the latest looks of the black and red sneaker below, and stay tuned for more updates.
