Maya Moore Wins First WNBA Championship

has won at every level in dominant fashion and can now cross the WNBA off of her list as the Minnesota Lynx won their first championship this past Friday. Moore and the Lynx swept the Atlanta Dream in a best of five series. Moore averaged nearly 14 points, six rebounds and two assists per game throughout the playoffs on her way to winning her first professional championship. Maya Moore Wins Rookie of the Year

’s great first year in the WNBA continues as she adds another piece of hardware to her trophy case. Moore was named the 2011 WNBA Rookie of the Year earlier this morning in voting by a national media poll. Moore, who was selected first overall by the Minnesota Lynx, averaged 13.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists while helping the Lynx to a league best 27-7 record. With the WNBA Playoffs starting tonight, Moore will look put the most important piece of hardware next to her Rookie of the Year trophy. via USAToday.

Prior to the beginning of the WNBA’s 2011 season, Jordan Brand signed , who would become their first female basketball signee in the company’s history. In her first year in the WNBA, Moore made the WNBA All-Star team and is a frontrunner for WNBA Rookie of the Year. Jordan Fly Wade: Maya Moore All Star PE

This past weekend in San Antonio was the 15th WNBA All-Star Game and the league’s best players, including , were down in Texas to show that basketball is basketball. For her first all star game appearance, Jordan Brand presented Moore with a PE that complemented the West’s orange uniforms but the Lynx forward decided to go with her own pairs for the first and second halves. The pair worn in the first half consisted of different shades of orange while the pair worn in the second half was more conservative with white and orange being used as the only colors. Moore ended up with 10 points and 3 rebounds in a West All Stars loss but she commented that she was excited to see the legends of the game that she had grown up watching in person. Jordan Brand Athlete Maya Moore Makes Push For All Star Bid

Jordan Brand’s first female basketball athlete, Maya Moore, is looking to make the WNBA All-Star Game in her first season with the Minnesota Lynx. So far in the 2011 campaign, Moore has averaged 13 points per game in addition to 5 rebounds per game and has lead the Lynx to the second best record in the West. As of July 1st, she was the leading vote getter for the Western Conference forwards. Her fellow Lynx teammates have lobbied for her making the game through a viral campaign.
