Yeah there have been a couple unfortunate injuries along the way to shake up Team USA’s roster as we approach the 2012 Summer Olympics, but make no mistake about it-they are still every bit a premier and dominant squad. Last night’s exhibition match against the Dominican Republic proved that, ending in a 113-59 victory for the home team thanks in no small part to Jumpmen Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Yeah Dwyane Wade is unfortunately out of the picture, but two thirds of the biggest names under the Jordan Brand umbrella will still be holding it down for the Jumpman in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Have you ever seen a sneaker gain so much steam this late in its lifecycle? Sure the other ‘Year of the Dragon’ release from Jordan Brand came in a bit closer to the Chinese New Year, but if you go ahead and check your zodiac calender you’ll realize that we’re still knee deep in the scaly sign so the theme is very much still fair game. The first round of the NBA Playoffs lined up in such a way that one of Jordan Brand’s marquee names had to fall to another. The one to go down was of course Caremlo Anthony along with his New York Knicks, falling to Dwyane Wade and the Heat in a series that saw their two signature sneaks put to work in their post season colorways.
