2013 saw the reemergence of the New York Knicks as they finished with their best regular season since 1994, grabbing the Atlantic Division title under the wings of Jordan Brand athlete Carmelo Anthony. And for as good a year as it was for Melo, it could be an equally good year for Jordan releases in Knicks colorways. Earlier this year we saw the release of the Air Jordan 1 ‘Knicks’ and now we have the privilege of setting our sights on new on-feet images of the Air Jordan V “Melo”, and while this doesn’t confirm a release, people continue to leak images of this Air Jordan V with an all orange upper and a new icy sole that appears in a deep royal. The Jordan Melo M9 has been on retail shelves for a little bit now, but the sneaker hit NYC in full force last night at Cipriani Club 55 just off Wall Street. The space played host to 1,500 local kids who were able to trial the latest Carmelo Anthony signature shoe, check out the ‘Playing for the City That Made Me’ documentary series, and watch a Q&A session between Melo and Bernard King hosted by Sway and a subsequent concert from local spitters French Montana and Fabolous. The man also know as Mars Blackmon then brought out another guest-Carmelo Anthony, that cornerstone of Jordan Brand athletes who has immediately come to mean so much to the city of New York. Following their chit chat, attendees were herded up several more floors in a freight elevator to where the true surprise awaited. What was that surprise?
