Sneaker News Presents: An Art Gallery Made of Air Jordan Scraps

The Air Jordan XX9 debuted yesterday in an onslaught of first looks, samples and more at a launch event in New York City, and Jordan Brand rolled out all of the stops to make sure everyone knew that the silhouette fit right in with their history of innovation. As part of the event, JB decorated the walls with metal plated spare parts of their signature sneaker like from numbers 1 to 28. Each framed layout featured a look a the spare parts of each signature Air Jordan broken down from the sole to the side panels in full glory. Get with us after the click to see the full breakdown of the installation at the Air Jordan XX9 Launch event and let us know what you think of the art piece in the comments section.

Air Jordan Elements Series Expands for 2014

Air Jordan Elements Series Expands for 2014

After 2013 saw two colorways of the Air Jordan 3Lab5 atop the Air Jordan 5 that fell perfectly in tune with the silhouette’s 23rd anniversary, it looks like the Air Jordan ‘Elements Series’ will have much more in store for 2014. How about six possible sneakers under the Lab Series family tree? Based on a preview image of the packaging paper donning different periodic squares, there’s the Air Jordan 2 “It” (Italy for the leather used on the sneaker), the Air Jordan 3 “El” – which we detailed earlier in the day as the brand new 3M donning Air Jordan 3 “5Lab3″, Air Jordan 4 “S” (for the shoe’s cement speckle), the Air Jordan 11 “PL” (which can be assumed that stands for the standard patent leather), Air Jordan 15 “W” (which could potentially stand for a Woven iteration), and the Air Jordan 20 “Ls” (Laser). While we can’t tell which shoes will combine for each mash-up, for example which silhouette will wind up with the 4′s cement speckle or the patent leather belonging to the Air Jordan 11, it’s definitely an exciting development. Stick with us after the click to give us your predictions and stay tuned for more ‘Lab Series’ updates.

Air Jordan 10 & Air Jordan 16 “Christmas” PEs for Ray Allen

December 26th, 2013 By

Air Jordan 10 & Air Jordan 16 Christmas PEs for Ray Allen

It’s a time honored tradition within the Jordan Brand family tree that Ray Allen receives some of the best player exclusives of any Jordan athlete. It makes sense – Jesus Shuttlesworth has never rocked his own signature sneaker with the brand and instead has opted to be an outlier on the perimeter, wearing whatever covetable exclusive the brand throws at him. This Christmas was no different either, as the Jumpman gave the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader two pairs to choose from: for the first half it was a festive red leather Air Jordan 10 with green accents and for the second he donned the Air Jordan XVI. Hit the gallery to see official photos of each sneaker and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Air Jordan XVI Retro: Black – Gym Red – White – Metallic Silver | Unreleased Sample

Another sample has arrived from the category of unreleased Air Jordan XVI retros. It appears a decent run of pairs were produced to test things out, but rumors report that the overall process was too expensive to be able to bring the shoe back to market at a reasonable price. They can still be had though-you’ve just gotta go the auction route. Flip through our gallery after the jump to see the Air Jordan XVI retro in a black and white, kind of “Concord” looking combo and then bid on them from oregonsole on eBay.

Air Jordan XVI Low: Unreleased 2012 Sample

More from the retro that never was-the Air Jordan XVI. This time around the pair to pop up is of the low persuasion and sports a rather simple bulls combination of varsity red and white. As you can see on the inside tag, the sneaker was marked as a Fall 2012 release, a season that would have been jam packed with this late era MJ shoe had all gone according the plan. Flip through the photos of this sample after the jump and purchase this unreleased Air Jordan XVI Low for your collection from oregonsole on eBay.

Air Jordan XVI Low: “Stealth” – Unreleased 2012 Sample

The Air Jordan XVI that never happened continues to be teased out via the various samples floating around on the internet. Shown here is the Air Jordan XVI Low once again, featuring a stealthy sort of colorway that almost looks to be borrowed from the Air Jordan V ‘Wolf Grey’ thanks to that crinkled nubuck panel. Check out the Air Jordan XVI Low in better detail in our gallery after the jump and stay tuned to see if a retro for this model ever materializes at retail.

Air Jordan XVI Retro: Unreleased Cherrywood Sample

Will the Air Jordan retro line ever make it past the Air Jordan XV? For what it’s worth, it doesn’t appear that the Air Jordan XVI will be one of the models in the mix if it does given how close it was to production in 2012. Another sample has shown its face from the canned treatment, this one a bringback of the Air Jordan XVI ‘Cherrywood’. Check out all the angles on this sneaker right after the jump and stay tuned for more unreleased Air Jordan heat.
