Vintage Gear: Air Jordan 11 Columbia Snapback Hat

With March Madness under way, Jordan Brand has offered up plenty of stylings in Tar Heel colorways ranging from the Air Jordan 1 AJKO “Rivals Pack” to the recently retroed Air Jordan 10 “Powder Blue”. But the shoe featuring the university blue hue that has everyone talking is the rumored to return Air Jordan 11 “Columbia”. The shoe only made one on-court appearance for MJ in the 1996 All-Star Game, but people have been hoping for pairs to resurface ever since. Today’s vintage gear should go perfectly with the potentially-releasing pair as it’s a white and blue snapback from 1996.  The front logo mimics the Air Jordan tag on the shoe while the back of the hat features the 23 insignia. Hit the click for a better view of this rare find and know that you can grab this hat via perfectlaunch on eBay.

Air Jordan 11: Columbia Releasing December 2014

After collector oregonsole brought the news that the Air Jordan 11 “Pantone” would be releasing later this year in a limited release – a shoe that many had marked down as being one of those elusive samples for the remainder of Jordan Brand history – it looks like the Jumpman has another Air Jordan 11 up their sleeves. That’s right, the Air Jordan 11 “Columbia” will finally see shelves as this year’s Holiday release. Featuring an all white upper, accents of black hit the lining and the Jumpman logo gets a subtle hint of UNC-inspired blue in a callback to Mike’s 1996 All-Star game. Stay tuned for more updates and let us know your thoughts on the Air Jordan 11 “Columbia” returning to store shelves this December by penning your thoughts in the comments section.

Retroed 5 years later, heads worldwide have been waiting for another announcement of when this sneaker will pop back up into stock listings. With no further word and only rumors about a potential release here and there, the Air Jordan XI ‘Columbia’ remains as ghostly as its all white exterior. Air Jordan XI: Columbia OG Michael Jordan PE

Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan XI OGs from back in the day were separated by the stitched look that shows up for the numbering on the back. Shown here is one of those pairs, an original Air Jordan XI “Columbia” that appears to have been made for Mike. And as you’ll remember, those were the sneakers he wore out to the NBA All-Star Game in 1996, so if these are indeed a game-worn pair then it’s possible that that was the game they were worn in.
