Back in 2008 in the midst of the Air Force 1 wave, Jordan Brand and Nike released the Air Jordan III Force Fusion – a shoe with the upper of the Air Jordan III in all of its elephant printed glory with the famous midsole of Air Force 1. That hybrid was released in both black and white versions as far as the Air Jordan III was concerned, with the midsole going translucent and exposing the Nike Air treatent. Utilizing a white bottom and black stitching instead, this noticeably different sample is available for pick-up via noname2828 on eBay. View more images after the jump.

The last time we saw the Air Jordan III ‘Fire Red’ was in 2007 and while we saw a steady influx of the silhouette in 2011, the Air Jordan III ‘Fire Red’ was the only original colorway of the model to be excluded. It’s always been the odd man out in the Air Jordan III collection with a darker elephant print than any other of the original models. Fire Red fans won’t have to wait much longer as the sneaker is set for a release this coming August, and images surfaced of the upcoming retro recently. MMG rapper Wale apparently rolled through Flight Club in NYC a few weeks back to purchase “Threes for the whole team”. Yep, he went into the world famous sneaker consignment shop and bought out every Air Jordan III that they had. This quick video captures the trip, and also features Wale giving some insight as to the significance of the shoe to his upcoming album The Gifted. Oregon State has gotten severely shorted when it comes to special Air Jordan retro releases. Sure they had one pair of Air Jordan IXs, but you’d have to imagine the Corvallis university is feeling just a bit jealous of UO what with all those special pairs for the latter that we’ve seen over the years.
