You won’t find too many events with as many rare Air Jordans collected in one place as at Sneaker Con. Perhaps the epicenter of all of the goodies in the building at the recent Chicago stop was the table of one Flipjays. What was laying around? JR Smith hasn’t been too strong in the Knicks’ current series against the Indiana Pacers, shooting just 14 of 49 so far. And while you can certainly deride his shooting, you can’t say too many bad things about his sneaker game. Last night he borrowed a Knicks flavored Air Jordan V from Quentin Richardson, a guy who hasn’t had too many chances to put mileage on his sneakers as of late. The “UNC” Air Jordan IV finally brings the white/columbia blue look over to the Air Jordan IV. At the original time of the AJ4′s release, the line hadn’t really started to mess with the UNC tribute colors just yet, and was still stuck in some deeper shades of blue. The “Duckman” Air Jordan IV was one of the earlier collegiate Air Jordan IV exclusives to be produced. Oregon as a whole got the treatment (two pairs in total) before others like UNC and Cal. Shown here is the sneaker complete with the leather hangtag, a little addition that we don’t see on non-retail pairs too often. Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan XI OGs from back in the day were separated by the stitched look that shows up for the numbering on the back. Shown here is one of those pairs, an original Air Jordan XI “Columbia” that appears to have been made for Mike. And as you’ll remember, those were the sneakers he wore out to the NBA All-Star Game in 1996, so if these are indeed a game-worn pair then it’s possible that that was the game they were worn in. The team over at Sneaker News stays spotlighting some of the best collections out there in the sneaker world. The latest they’ve happened upon is that of PEvault, who just happens to have one of the best hordes of player exclusive Air Jordans we’ve ever seen. Included in the group are the Air Jordan IX Lows for Marshall Faulk pictured above, the infamous “Prime Time” Air Jordan XIs, an Air Jordan V for Ray Allen, and much more. Apparently Michael Jordan himself was one of the few folks to get his hands on the Air Jordan 1 with that alternate Dunk tooling on the bottom. This pair is one of those, a PE for MJ that also has a couple other little tweaks that separate it from the retail version of the OG Air Jordan 1. Also switched up is the overall height and the Wings-logo usage (That emblem hits on both sides of the sneaker here). The Air Jordan-rocking athletes in the playoffs are dwindling. Chris Paul (Happy birthday to him) is out, the Brooklyn Nets are out, and of course Russell Westbrook is out even though his team isn’t. Marquette is the next Jordan Brand school to be blessed with their own Air Jordan IV design. Shown here is that one, which doesn’t go as far as the Air Jordan IV “UNC” with the various logos, but nonetheless manages to convey the Golden Eagles theme. Actually the overall look isn’t too far from a previously released Air Jordan IV, with many folks pointing out the “Tour Yellow” similarities.
