The Jordan 6 Rings will hit the baseball diamond tonight in celebration of Jackie Robinson Day, as Jordan Brand athletes Carl Crawford and Jimmy Rollins will be wearing a PE cleat version of the silo. On the back end of the royal and blue combination is a bit of “42″ embroidery, paying respect to Jackie Robinson’s jersey number and his contributions of the game of baseball. On top of that, C.C. The Jordan Brand Classic is more than just a set of basketball games. The event provides a complete experience for the young athletes participating, and for the folks who make it out to the day. The former group enjoyed plenty of Jordan Brand activities leading up to Saturday, including a private event with Spike Lee, a trip out to Melo’s native Redhook, and some training time with Team Jordan boxer Andre Ward. The latter group, those who populated the Barclay’s Center for Saturday’s trio of games, saw the in-game action boosted by the presence of celebs and athletes like Fabolous, C.C. Sabathia, Amare Stoudemire, Victor Cruz, and more. Oh, and did we mention that Drake ending the evening with a performance wherein he brought the All-Americans on stage to celebrate? So Carmelo Anthony did go ahead and stuck with the Jordan Melo M8 Advance while on his win streak. And while he had a monstruous game last night it just wasn’t enough, as he and the Knicks eventually fell to Chicago in overtime. The NBA is nearly ready for the 2013 post season, which means teams are scrapping out and fighting for rank going into the playoffs. There have been plenty of memorable sneakers during these tight times on court, including Nate Robinson in his Air Jordan XIII “He Got Game”, Monta Ellis wearing the Air Jordan VII “Hare”, and Stephen Jackson bringing out a classic Air Jordan IV colorway. The Jordan Brand team just got deeper with the addition of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. The word comes straight from Bryant, who announced the signing via Twitter (And also excitedly mentioned chatting with the man Michael himself, presumably at HQ out in Beaverton). Is it possible that the Air Jordan XX8 will ever cross over to other sports at retail? We’d be pretty surprised to see that happen, but for Jordan Brand athletes like Michael Crabtree there were pairs produced for the gridiron. Almost a year later and apparently the partnership between Manny Pacquiao and Jordan Brand is still a possibility. Legal counsel for the pugilist haven’t confirmed anything yet, but have spoken on the notion that the Jordan Brand might be a better fit for Manny over the “generic cache Nike brand” that has been his affiliation most recently. Stay tuned to see whether or not Manny Pacquiao does indeed join the ranks of past and present Team Jordan boxers like Roy Jones and Andre Ward.
