Jordan Brand’s inaugural foray into the business of packs, the Air Jordan 12 “Nubuck” set the precedent for highly sought product bundles bearing the Jumpman. The Nubucks, as they quickly became known, released on November 24, 2003 for $200, yielding the kicks in Black/White-University Blue with a matching hooded sweatshirt and cap set. But this wasn’t the release day clamor we’re used to today. You had to be registered as a Team Jordan member on Jumpman23.com, and as long as that was accomplished well in advance, Jordan Brand dropped a card in the mail with a paper tape measure so you could determine your cap size ahead of time.
Problem was when release day came around, Nike had to postpone the drop. Server issues. The pack released a few days later, and the extra vigilant were able to order without much trouble. The Nubuck 12 returned on May 30, 2009 all by its lonesome, and again sold out quickly. You can find both releases on eBay at various prices, but a complete pack from 2003 is more difficult to track down. Reminisce with the Nubuck pack below and stay tuned for more Daily Jordan.
