After 20 years in the same spot, the Michael Jordan statue outside of the United Center in Chicago will be moved temporarily from its perch on the east side of the stadium to the southeast corner. The Bulls are constructing a new office building and don’t want to risk injury to the bronze icon, officially titled “The Spirit.” The statue’s base that lists Jordan’s career accomplishments will stay in place, however, and be shielded. The Chicago Bulls unveiled the statue on November 1, 1994 just prior to Michael Jordan’s retirement ceremony inside the then-brand new stadium.
