With Michael Jordan‘s game-worn rookie year Nike Air Ship pair currently taking bids at SCP Auctions, we get a closer look at the historic pre-Air Jordan pair of sneakers here.
Ballboy Khalid Ali procured the shoes from Jordan after Jordan wore them in a 113-112 Bulls road win over the Lakers on December 2, 1984.
Ali was able to have Jordan sign each shoe before handing them over.
Jordan finished the evening with a stat line of 20 points, two rebounds and three assists, trumping Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 32 points and Magic Johnson’s 12 points and 16 assists.
If you haven’t yet, check out Khalid Ali sharing his story here. After the photos below, of course. Take your time.
