Although Gary Sheffield is now retired, he will be remembered as not only a great slugger but someone who was versatile on the field. Did you know that before he played the outfield, he began his career as a shortstop? During the latter part of the nine time All-Star’s career he found homes with the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and New York Mets. It was with the New York Mets that Sheffield hit his 500th home run becoming only the third player after 40 to accomplish that and the 25th overall to do it. In his lone season with the Mets, Sheffield wore this Air Jordan IX PE that is in the franchise’s alternate colors of Black/Orange-Royal-White.
