The sneaker that started it all – the Air Jordan 1 – was almost never a reality. That’s because the NBA tried to put a stop to Nike’s marketing efforts by attempting to ban the Air Jordan 1 for not following team uniform guidelines. Michael was fined for every game he wore the shoe, a tab Nike was glad to pick up. Jordan Brand has plans to re-released the Air Jordan 1 in Black/Red with the ‘Banned’ insignia, with red X marks on the heel and around the shoe. Need another look? We’ve got a detailed gallery for you below so take a look!
