You can almost count on one hand, maybe two, the times Jordan Brand has released player exclusive edition colorways to the public. But they’ve been heavy-hitters – selections like the “Melo” Air Jordan 2 in 2004, and “Chris Paul” New Orleans Hornets-style Air Jordan 13s in 2015. Air Jordan 9 “Kobe” marks the latest, a white and purple patent leather mashup that Jordan Brand cooked up for Kobe Bryant during the 2002-03 season when he wasn’t signed to any sneaker deal. Kobe’s number 8 has been swapped with MJ’s 23, but the rest of the shoe is a copy of the original look. Catch these at retail on November 19 or, if you’ll be in New York City this week, they’ll be available early at the new Nike SoHo location.
