Who said the trading card market is dead? One of Michael Jordan’s rookie cards just sold for about $165,000.
The 1984-85 Star branded piece, rated overall at 9.5/10, is one of the earliest examples of a Jordan rookie card. So early, in fact, the back only features Jordan’s collegiate basketball stats at the University of North Carolina, as well as notes his high school, Laney.
The final price notched at $164,700, not including a $99.99 shipping charge. For context, Jordan’s pair of Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” shoes from 1997 fetched $104,765, while a pair of Air Jordan 11 “Bred” from Game 3 of the 1996 NBA Finals went for a pittance of $17,126.
