Jordan Brand takes us into the Michael Jordan’s shattered backboard moment with a just-released video clip. Fresh off of his NBA Rookie of the Year season, Jordan embarked upon a world tour in summer 1985 that included various stops. One of them was in Italy, where Jordan suited up for Trieste against Caserta.
A 22-year-old Jordan put on a show for the crowd before capping it with one of his patented leaner dunks. The slam ripped the backboard apart, catching the trailing opposition in a rain of glass. Watch the story behind the “Shattered Backboard” colorway, including a look at the MJ-worn shoes from that game that still have shards of backboard glass embedded. Air Jordan 1 “Reverse Shattered Backboard” and Air Jordan 31 “Shattered Backboard” both release on October 8th.
Shattering expectations. #AJXXXI
