The best part of Dwight Howard’s deal with PEAK might be the non-PEAK shoes he’s allowed to wear. The new Atlanta Hawks center sat courtside for the Atlanta Dream game in a pair of “Banned” Air Jordan 1, reminding us that overseas sneaker deals are much less territorial than those stateside. He did however wear a PEAK shirt to give his homeboys a little shine.
The move is not at all surprising. Howard is the latest in a line of athletes endorsing Chinese sportswear companies who also wear other brands. For instance, Steve Nash and Kevin Love continued to wear Nike on the court while maintaining deals with Luyou and 361 Degrees, respectively. So if you see Dwight wearing Jordans with his Hawks uniform this season, you’ll know what’s up.
