Shots fired? Jordan Brand’s latest promo clip featuring Russell Westbrook seems to communicate a little bit more than promoting the upcoming “Banned” Air Jordan 31. Westbrook, now the undisputed face of the Oklahoma City Thunder with Kevin Durant’s departure for the Golden State Warriors, tees up on a runway to launch into a free throw line dunk. The voice-over chimes with “Some run, some make runways” as Westbrook completes the jam.
So, the basic narrative is that KD runs from adversity while Russ – who just signed a three-year, $85 million extension to stay with OKC – embraces the challenge and turns adversity into a launching pad to greatness. The contrast is both amusing and combative. What’s your read of the new clip? Sound off below, and let us know if you’re picking up the Banned 31s on September 3rd.
