Every NBA dynasty had to overcome a nemesis, a team that stood between them and the NBA crown. For the Chicago Bulls that team was the Detroit Pistons. From 1988 through 1990, the “Bad Boys” squad of Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, and Dennis Rodman knocked the young Bulls out of the playoffs. Each series was more physically taxing for the Bulls than the last, with the ’90 series stretching a full seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Detroit went on to dispose of the Portland Trail Blazers for the title, but not before Michael Jordan unleashed nearly his entire repertoire of skills while wearing Air Jordan 5 Black/Metallic Silver. The shoe’s return last Saturday not only brings back a total Air Jordan classic in OG Nike Air form, but it also puts into our hands the very last signature shoe Jordan wore before forever claiming the mantle of NBA champion in 1991.
