Peter Moore deliberately filled in Air Jordan 1 with the bold colors of the Chicago Bulls. The veteran Nike designer, tasked with crafting Michael Jordan’s first shoe in 1984, wanted the shoe to make a statement. The only problem was that the NBA didn’t like the message – calling for Jordan to abandon the loud look for more conformity-friendly sneakers.
