Michael Jordan’s latest capital investment will be measured by the number of readers it yields. This week, Jordan announced $500,000 toward promoting literacy in the Charlotte area, an outreach the Hornets owner believes will strengthen educational initiatives. The gift will directly benefit local charities, including construction of 18 libraries at preschools, child care centers and nonprofits in low income areas. Since taking over majority ownership of the Hornets, Jordan and the Hornets have donated over $3 million to benefit education, hunger, and other causes.
