A sign of things to come, Michael Jordan knocked down his huge game-winning jumper 34 years ago today to lift the North Carolina Tar Heels to an NCAA Championship win over Patrick Ewing’s Georgetown Hoyas. With time winding down, the freshman Jordan – only 19 years old by six weeks – took the pass from guard Jimmy Black and without hesitation stepped into the 16-foot corner shot to give the Heels the one-point lead. Jordan finished with 16 points and the Heels got their second title. Two years later, the Chicago Bulls drafted Jordan third overall and the rest, to put it very lightly, is history.
