Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls completed their first NBA championship “three-peat” over 22 years ago, capped with John Paxson’s game-winning three to silence the Suns in Phoenix.
Roughly three months later, Jordan’s retirement press conference provided a shocking end to not only Jordan’s young career but also to the Bulls’ momentum as title contenders. And while MJ’s March 1995 comeback led to even greater heights – the 72-10 season, more MVP awards, another three-peat – the first three rings from 1991 to 1993 stand alone as a representation of his sheer talent and perseverance over the long haul.
Jordan Brand pays tribute to that era with the Air Jordan 8 “Three Time’s A Charm,” a shoe that combines MJ’s Finals conquests – Lakers, Blazers, Suns – into one theme. White leather and black nubuck provide the base, to which purple, gold, and red have been tastefully applied.
