The first Air Jordan 9 retros didn’t roll out until early 2002, over seven years after Michael Jordan’s “The Spirit” statue went up outside of the United Center in Chicago. A statue that not only honors Jordan’s career but also his signature sneaker line, with the Air Jordan 9 adorning the Bulls legend in mid-air. Only Jordan Brand knows how long the idea of a statue-inspired AJ9 has been on the back burner, but it’s amazing this shoe hasn’t been released all these years. Makes you wonder what other colorways Jordan Brand has in mind that have been hiding in plain sight. Check these well-done stills of the Statue 9 for a latest look, and let us know if they’re on your list to pick up on Saturday.
