Wait, sky? That’s what they called toddler and grade school Air Jordans back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Sky Jordans. First, for legal accuracy – these smaller sizes didn’t have any Air Sole cushioning, so claiming “Air” was a no-no. And second, these smaller sizes featured a different mix of materials than the big boys. In the case of the Jordan 4, a soft touch vinyl leatherette-style finish subbed in for the wing stabilizers and heel counter, where a standard Nike Swoosh logo was stamped on.
