Though a large swath of current sneakerheads weren’t even alive when Air Jordan 6 “Maroon” released in 1991, its first retro appearance later this year promises to draw great many looking to experience that original era. And they’re getting a very, very close replication, complete with the off-white leather upper, deep maroon accenting, and Nike Air branding stitched into the heels and printed on the insoles. No doubt a welcome sight in Jordan Brand’s slow but sharp turn back to re-creating the feel of many vintage Air Jordans.
And no complaints voiced yet. In fact, sneakerhead consensus, if you can call it that, seems to indicate there’s excitement at the possibility of more and more Air Jordans 1 through 6 coming back with their original look and materials. Getting the shoe is great but getting the shoe with all of its period-correct details is mind-blowing.
A release date of October 24, 2015 has been floating around but take it with a grain of salt at this point. We’ll have more updates on this classic soon.
