Our latest look at the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” features not only an up-close look the fine quality leather it boasts, but also a shot of the uniform that helped inspired this colorway.

The black, white and orange Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” takes its nickname from a mid-1980s exhibition game in which Michael Jordan, who isn’t exactly rim-wrecker Darryl Dawkins, shattered a backboard off one of his signature leaning jams. Although the nickname references what Mike did in that game, the colorway comes directly from his uniform. A shattered glass graphic, however, is included on the insole to tie it all together.

Layout is very much similar to the classic Air Jordan 1 “Blacktoe” setup that’s become a particular fan favorite in the last 30 years since it debuted.

Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” is currently slated for release on May 23rd at $160 per. You can also peruse early pairs if that’s your route on eBay.
