In the ESPN 30 for 30 Jordan Rides the Bus, current Cleveland Indians’ manager and then Michael Jordan coach Terry Francona says that MJ had the drive and focus to compete at baseball’s major league level. Unfortunately the 1994 season was cancelled mid-year by a player’s strike that eventually led Mike to decline his place as a replacement player and cross the line back into the NBA. It was a close call, so much so that Jordan Brand is referencing his time in the AA minor leagues with this “Birmingham Barons” Air Jordan 9. The shoe features a classic white and black base while grey hits on the lower half of the shoe. The inside even gets a pinstripe motif to nod at the White Sox and its minor league affiliate. Add in a 45 stitching on the back heel and for a kind of “Kilroy Pack” feel and this shoe should definitely make waves once it arrives on April 5th, 2014. Are you feeling this sneaker?
