Michael Jordan Signed Minor League Contract with White Sox 20 Years Ago Today

This summer, Jordan Brand is bringing back a number of styles inspired by MJ’s brief stint with the White Sox-affiliated AA squad Birmingham Barons. The 20th anniversary of MJ ditching the NBA for his childhood dream of being a professional baseball player, one he shared with his late father, actually started today, as Michael Jordan first inked his minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox. In a strange coincidence, the current Cleveland Indians manager and the man who coached the Boston Red Sox to their first World Series championship in a number of years, Terry Francona was his manager. While the story created plenty of doubts, it also topped sports headlines around the country.
