While there have been multiple success stories about dual-sport athletes achieving success (Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson immediately come to mind) the story of Michael Jordan’s first retirement remains such a stand-alone event because of how dominant he was in the game of basketball. When the Air Jordan IX dropped, Jordan Brand had to market a signature basketball shoe that Michael wouldn’t be wearing, and thus the character of Johnny Kilroy was born. A few years back JB paid homage to to the infamous commercials with the Air Jordan 9 “Kilroy Pack” and this pair of the “Barons” Air Jordan 9 seems almost like an extension of that. The shoe features an inner lining of pinstripes instead of the usual checkerboard print in a wing to the White Sox and Barons’ pants while the number 45 is stitched on the back.
