Call it hyperbole, a loosening sense of reality, but what you can take away from former-Bulls teammate Horace Grant’s proclamation that Michael Jordan could average 45 point per game in today’s NBA is that the man has respect for His Airness. During an interview with the Chicago Tribune for the outlook of this year’s Chicago Bulls squad, Grant answered a number of questions, but got the biggest response during a tangent on what the outcome of a 1991-93 Bulls squad squaring off against today’s Miami Heat would be.  “We would have kicked their asses,” he said.  “The rules have changed so much from our days and the Heat’s days. It was more physical back then. Today you can run around without getting touched. Today, Michael Jordan would average about 45 points.” He also disagreed heavily with a statement made by Scottie Pippen that LeBron could go down as the best player to ever play by adding, “Scottie was really drinking that day when he said that. You can’t compare anybody to Michael. You can compare, but Michael is the best player I’ve ever seen or ever played against. Not taking anything away from Kobe or Lebron or Carmelo or even D-Rose, but wait until those guys get through playing. Then you can say compare the two careers.” What do you think of Grant’s assertion? Let us know in the comments.
