The Air Jordan 1 Black/Red was not well received by the NBA and commissioner David Stern due to the fact that it violated the league’s uniform code. The shoe was soon banned by the league, but Nike paid the fine every time that Michael Jordan wore the shoe, a misfortune that became a great marketing tool on Nike’s behalf as the Air Jordan 1 became an instant hit upon release in 1984. Fast forward to 2011 and Jordan Brand has rehashed the Air Jordan 1 by nicknaming it the ‘Banned’ edition with an ‘X’ visible on the heel and inner lining. Since pictures released months ago, the release of these was unclear and with recent news of these popping up at outlets across the country, it appears that these may never release. The way the Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ has been handled by Jordan Brand has been controversial indeed and via the latest images by Osneaker we get a better look at these. Check out the additional images after the jump and get your pair over on eBay.
