Tinker Hatfield is widely regarded as one of the greatest designers in sneaker history especially due to what he has done for the Air Jordan signature line. When Hatfield was designing the Air Jordan V, he found inspiration in a World War 2 fighter jet and the elements of the jet are found throughout the sneaker most notably the teeth on the midsole. Jordan wearing a shoe that who’s designed was inspired by an airplane shouldn’t be a surprise to any as his ability to take flight has been compared to that of a plane.
