During the 2011 NBA Playoffs, the NBA launched an ad campaign that featured game balls reliving historic moments made in past playoffs. In this new commercial, the ball in question is the one Michael Jordan clutched while he cried uncontrollably on the locker room floor following the Bulls’ victory in the 1996 Finals. This moment in NBA Playoffs history was especially bittersweet due to the fact that Jordan clinched his fourth NBA Championship on Father’s Day, which reminded him of his father, James Jordan, who tragically passed away in June 1993. Jordan’s sobbing emotionally on the floor is a moment that many who watched the game will always remember, and the game ball featured in the commercial summed up how powerful the moment was without saying a single word.
