Michael Jordan’s soaring, glass-shattering slam in 1985 is the inspiration for the next flagship Air Jordan release. The “Shattered Backboard” Air Jordan 31 is wrapped in the “Starfish” orange and black of Stefanel Trieste, the team he joined for one exhibition game against Caserta during his summer 1985 world tour. Tinker Hatfield’s leather-to-Flyweave upper provides a canvas for the sharp two-tone look, itself inspired by Air Jordan 1. In addition to wrapping a memorable early career highlight with the broken backboard, MJ scored 30 points and provided sneaker fans with a fresh colorway for fall 2016.
