When Michael Jordan embarked on his baseball career in 1994, did he keep playing basketball under an alias? That’s the mystery of Johnny Kilroy, the 6-foot-6 baller with a Jiff Ramsey haircut and goggles (sometimes) who appeared in Nike commercials at the time. And he became the inspiration for this Air Jordan 9 released in 2012. Black, silver and red teamed up almost as an alternate Chicago Bulls colorway, with Kilroy’s number four stitched in each heel. The shoe kicked off a series of AJ9 colorways for Jordan’s other characters, homespun tags like Fontay Montana and Motorboat Jones. You can find each Kilroy shoe now at select spots like Stadium Goods
