Among Michael Jordan’s key traits over the last 30 years has been his ability to relate to young people and to inspire them. But even MJ seemed momentarily disconnected when a camper at his Michael Jordan Flight School in Santa Barbara broke out the “What are those?” meme during a Q&A session, referencing the basketball legend’s Air Jordan XX9 Lows.
As the crowd of kids buzzes with amusement and light jeering – you can hear someone exclaim “He’s confused!” – Jordan appears to consult with one of his camp directors to sort out what exactly he was just asked and how to answer the viral phrase. Jordan finally retorts:
“What are those? These are 29 Lows.”
