Before Space Jam officially cemented Michael Jordan‘s legacy with the Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny and Marvin The Martian were helping MJ take Air Jordans around the world and into outer space.
Well, “help” might be too strong of a word when it comes to Marvin’s technical role in the Air Jordan campaign, as evidenced by this 1993 Nike Air Jordan “In Your Space!” t-shirt. Marvin is all about defeating “earthlings,” one of whom happens to be Michael Jordan, so his game is to zip around trying to implement schemes to conquer, if not obliterate, them.
As it happens, neither MJ nor MJ’s game can be conquered, hence the spin on the famous “in your face” rebuttal to Marvin’s warning on the front. Judging by Marvin’s “Oh my!” caption, he knows he’s in real heavy gravy.
Since this tee was issued in ’93, it features Marvin wearing the Air Jordan 8 “Hare” (funny for a guy trying to defeat the shoe’s namesake). Strangely, Mike is wearing Air Jordan 6 “Carmine” to do his intergalactic battle. But who’s keeping score, right?
This shirt and others from the era are available through sellers like dsknt on eBay now. Watch for more Vintage Gear right here at Jordans Daily.
