The Nike Air Ship sneakers that Michael Jordan wore early in his rookie season are officially up for bids, and owner Khalid Ali is sharing the story of how he took possession of them.

Alongside SCP Auctions auction director Brendan Wells, Ali recounts his experience in a new video posted today by Jordan Geller, proprietor of world-famous ShoeZeum collection. Ali was working as a ballboy for a Bulls-Lakers game at the Forum on December 2, 1984 when the super rookie’s shoes caught his eye. The rest, as they say, is history.

Watch now.

You can bid on Jordan’s Air Ship sneakers from April 8th through April 25th right here.

Find additional video coverage of this historic pair of Air Ships at Geller’s YouTube channel.
