Anyone who doubted how much fun the Oklahoma City Thunder are to watch was reminded on Sunday night as Russell Westbrook surprised everyone and returned to the hardwood a month earlier than expected. It’s one thing to come back from an injury and see limited minutes, but number zero played 33 minutes and put up his usual numbers too, adding 21 points on 14 free throws and adding in 7 assists and he did so wearing a “Thunder” PE of the Air Jordan XX8 SE. Continue reading to get full photos of his footwear selection and his thoughts on what many classified as an early return and stay tuned for all your upcoming Jordans On Court recaps by sticking with Jordans Daily.
“Rehab is a tough process,” Westbrook said before tipoff. “I’m going to continue to rehab throughout the season, before the game, whatever I need to do to stay healthy throughout the year. It’s a tough process, but I’m thankful for everybody that supported me throughout the process.
Many were worried about such an early return, as initial reports expected Russell to miss anywhere from the first four to six weeks of the season, leaving Kevin Durant to carry the heavy lifting until his return.
“I don’t know who made that up in the first place,” he said. “I was never on that timeline at all. I was just taking it day by day and going one day at a time until I was ready to play.”
