Before he was Air Jordan, he was Mike Jordan, a Freshman at the University of North Carolina wearing Converse All-Stars and patiently waiting for Dean Smith to pencil him in to the starting lineup. And on November 28, 1981 he entered the game against Kansas, took his first shot, and it clanked off the rim. But Jordan did hit the next one for Carolina’s first points of the season in a five foot jumper and finished the game with 12 points on 50 percent shooting en route to a 74-67 victory.
