While the official reason remains hidden in Nike history, there was never a black colorway Air Jordan 2 back in 1986-87. Michael Jordan simple wore a White/Black look with black laces for road games, and a White/Red for home. But what would a black Chicago Bulls-compatible Air Jordan 2 have looked like? Jordan Brand answered that question in February 2016 with the Air Jordan 2 “Alternate” release. Black leather, iguana skin overlays, and plenty of red trim made this a clean option for fans of the AJ2. While Michael Jordan never wore this look on-court, it’s available in plentiful numbers to enjoy today.
